REX PRODUCT OVERVIEW

REX  immerses the user within a unique interactive environment possessing the visual richness, rapid response and ease of use of a video game. It accomplishes this while providing the precision of a powerful scientific instrument. REX avoids stovepipe solutions because they constrain conceptual understanding to the stovepipe. Instead, REX provides an environment of unparalleled rapid response and conceptual flexibility where anything is possible.

REX directly supports the ingest and exploitation of hyper-resolution GigaPixel (and larger) color imagery. REX can routinely exploit imagery whose scale is that of the side of a building relative to a computer display. It does this with a unique user interface that maintains user spatial awareness of exact position within massive image datasets at all times. Navigating within huge image datasets without getting 'lost' is no longer a problem. REX also maintains an EXACT mapping of the imagery on the display, to the original dataset, through all image magnifications and transformations. This means that REX can accurately maintain geographical and celestial navigation at the individual pixel level for datasets fit to projections. REX fully utilizes the advanced capabilities of LINUX on your computer to achieve your hardware's full analysis potential. REX really is unlike any graphics software you have ever used. Digital imagery literally comes alive in the rapid response, fast-moving, visually exciting REX environment as traditional boundaries to analysis disappear.

REX functionality is built upon powerful image enhancement algorithms designed to reveal image phenomena that are normally invisible or extremely subtle. All transformations are fully interactive, and can be applied selectively to individual color planes or collectively to all color planes. Transormations may be applied to a localized Area of Interest on the Display, or may assigned Global scope, so that an image transformation impacts an entire image dataset of GigaBytes. Batch operations on huge datasets are a thing of the past.

REX is the only system on the market supporting integrated, end-to-end image ENCRYPTION and DECRYPTION using the AES-256 cipher. REX supports secure viewing of sensitive compartmentalized information within a seamless environment where no unencrypted data exists outside the REX exploitation environment. You can transport your imagery electronically for secure viewing by trusted colleagues, or compartmentalize analysis within an organization, without the hassel of slow or difficult to use crypto packages or 'secure network' protocols. Encryption and Decryption, once initialized, is fully transparent to the user. Encryption is only available with an advanced license. If encryption capability is not purchased, REX is fully compliant with all legal restrictions against encryption and cannot be hacked to enable encryption. The REX encryption subsystem is also used to generate pure random number datasets for research in Information Theory and texture.

The REX image loader may be scripted. This enables an organization to bypass the REX image loader GUI with their own custom GUI written in Java or Python (or other) that organizes and stages exploitation tasks by generating loader scripts directed to analyst workstations hosting REX. In conjunction with REX encryption capability, this makes possible extremely efficient tasking of exploitation involving huge volumes of imagery and multiple analysts in a totally secure environment.

REX fully supports scientifically rigorous exploitation, yet gives the user unbridled freedom to experiment. The user decides what constitutes a scientifically meaningful operation. REX provides complete conceptual freedom and does not 'second guess' user decisions. This opens the door to the use of REX as an instrument for creating graphic imagery from 'found' patterns or mathematical first principles. Such images are unique. .

REX fully emulates the extended capabilities of high-end graphics hardware on generic 24-Bit Truecolor video boards. Instantaneous manipulation of Red, Green and Blue color lookup tables is supported, as well as 8 bits of non-destructive, editable Graphic Overlays. REX also supports the Alpha Transparency operator in its Image Calculator subsystem. The REX system is based upon a minimalists software design paradigm that performs all operations at the lowest level supported by the operating system. This gives REX its blazing speed and ability to exploit GigaPixel imagery.

REX is designed from the ground up as stable platform for extension, using straightforward 'C/C++' programming and a powerful but minimalist API. This makes it ideal for image science experimentalists in academia and industry. The REX library (REXlib (c)) and API are free, and you may distribute and even market your work, royalty free and with unlimited distribution, for profit.

Our target audience includes serious scientific and intelligence analysts in Government and Industry, as well as students, graphics artists and the intellectually curious. Our product is so robust, visually exciting and easy/fun to use, that it makes an educational and amusing toy for children. Our design methodology is inspired by Albert Einstein's observation that deep scientific research is a form of play. REX is not merely a powerful research tool; it is, unashamedly, a high precision intellectual toy.

REX is instantly accessable to the most casual user, yet rewards deep analysis by revealing its many layers of analytical subtlty. There exists a literal universe of undiscovered graphic wonders in the simplest of images which REX invites you to explore. Your imagination is the only constraint.
